I happened to stop by your gallery, and I noticed that this was listed in the "other insects "section I regret to inform you sooner but is my clear and concise belief that the mandrin duck is in fact not an insect, sadly.
Fun fact: I've actually spotted one in FINLAND, Europe! It was a once in a lifetime occasion and everyone came to see the mandarin duck, floating amongst regular Finnish ducks. It was an oddball and other ducks avoided it.
This duck was photographed in the center of Warsaw. They can be found in many places in Europe, most of them are "fugitives", but there are few stable, breeding populations. In Warsaw I see many specimens every year. Last week I also saw 5 young birds.
