Damn... something that really piss me off is that I find our pictures, in many places in the Internet without our watermarks and information about the original source of the image. Just few hours ago I found that company from Australia: www.ilandscape.com.au used our picture, with watermark removed, on their website.

When I wrote them on FB, that they have to pay for other people work, they removed my posts from their wall and added me to "ignored" list. Luckily they also removed article with stolen image from their FB account and website.

Did we hear magic word "sorry"? Guess... of course not.

This is the reason why I started thinking about large watermarks in the middle of every picture. It will look ugly, but the thefts will have to work harder to use them on their sites...

Your work is beautiful. I would encourage you to let go of your fear and anger because your work is beautiful and therefore will always be "stolen." My work is stolen constantly, I get a dozen emails a week notifying me of theft. At first it really bothered me, but then I thought "What are these people doing with my work anyway? Why do I care?"

I sleep much better now. :)

Your images are so beautiful. When is your book being published?

Hey I found this picture of yours [link] on facebook, without watermark [link] (I don't know if this link to facebook works: [link] )
Luckily it's not a person that claims to own it, it's posted on the "I fucking love science"-page
Just so you know =)

That is what I do - a watermark in the centre. Unfortunately you can't count on people's honesty when it comes to online photos. Some people will complain about the watermark or even laugh... But I don't think there is another way, except not publish anything at all. Here's an article I wrote a while ago about it (in Polish) [link]

Świetny tekst. A czytając komentarze widać, jak problem ten jest olewany przez "zwykłych" userów sieci. Każdy zaczyna dostrzegać problem, dopiero gdy sam stanie się obiektem kradzieży...

I hope you don't decide to use big, ugly watermarks, because that would make it hard for everyone to enjoy your beautiful photos. A small watermark can be just as effective, as long as you put it where thieves can't crop it off without ruining the photo. Even better, is if you can place the watermark so that it is incorporated into the image.

For example, here's a cool watermark that someone else made: [link]

I think in such cases, you should sue them immediatly, maybe that if they get a message from your lawyer they won't react the same way...

I hope that you know not everyone here in Australia is that bad.

lol :D by saying "assholes from Australia" I don't mean the whole population :D

I'm sorry but this comment just blew my mind, why would you even think I had such an opinion? It's not even indicated anywhere in the text.
